ARE NUCLEAR WEAPONS GLOBAL PEACE MAKERS OR KILLING DEVICES?

We have read articles written by different authors with different opinions regarding the use of nuclear weapons. Explosives were invented not only to defeat and destroy the enemy, but these are also used to cause intimidation to other countries. When these nuclear weapons are used, it will inevitably destroy the enemy's side, but it will also cause the death of innocent lives.

Now the question is, are nuclear weapons global peacemakers or killing devices?

Before going further, let us try to define nuclear weapons. What are Nuclear Weapons? Nuclear weapons are explosive devices that use nuclear reactions, either fission-fusion to release a vast amount of energy from a tiny fraction of matter. Because of this, they are considered a weapon of mass destruction, and their use and control have been a significant issue of international relations policy since their debut.

Going back to history, nuclear weapons were first used during World War II when the United States of America dropped the first bomb "Little Boy" over the city of Hiroshima. Three days later, "Fat Man," the second bomb, was dropped over Nagasaki. The US dropped the two bombs to earn the white flag from Japan.

Some may consider nuclear weapons as a means of protection, but to some, it is their worst nightmare. It's not convincing enough to say that nuclear weapons are peacemakers because once it explodes, whether you like it or not, it can wipe up a whole city. It can kill millions of millions of innocent lives. But when we are on the offense, it is advantageous because nuclear weapons can eventually kill and destroy our enemies. Nuclear weapons are, simply, the most indiscriminately inhumane weapons ever invented. It can kill us a lot faster than any other weapon.

Nuclear weapons may be global peacemakers, but I consider it as killing devices. There are still other ways of resolving conflict, and using these weapons is not only the solution to all existing disputes between nations. To some, a nuclear weapon is never a device that will help us win the war and gain peace. It will just worsen the situation. Nations among nations will continue to fight, and using nuclear weapons will never end it.
